Criminal Detained in Buenos Aires After Apartment Robbery Attempt

Buenos Aires, February 3 (NA) — One criminal has been detained and another is on the run in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Colegiales after attempting to rob a building by disabling a woman's car in Palermo. The arrest took place on Enrique Martínez street at 200, in Colegiales, when personnel from the Rapid Deployment Interventions (DIR) unit was alerted to a strange sequence of events in which criminals tried to break into an apartment to rob it. Immediately, as confirmed to the Argentine News Agency, officers went to the scene and managed to detain one of the thieves, while the other fled. As the investigation progressed, it was determined that everything began in Palermo when a woman discovered that her car had been disabled and her belongings were stolen, including the keys to her home. The criminals then fled and headed to the victim's residence, at which point the police were notified. “They took a long time because I don't have money in my wallet or my cell phone. I came because they told me, they didn't follow me,” the woman recounted. The case is being handled by the National Prosecutor's Office for Criminal and Correctional Matters 16, led by Mónica Lilian Cuñarro.
